BOOKS

Darlene Ryan has sold another YA book, Saving Grace, from Orca Books, part of their Soundings series for reluctant readers.

STORIES
Dee Gatrell sold her short story "Jilted Bride" to True Love magazine with a tentative date publication date of September 2005.

CONTESTS
Carol Baier won the California Writers Club conference contest for best novel, with a $100 prize.

Sarah Wisseman's book, The Dead Sea Codex, has been purchased by Hard Shell Word Factory for a December 2005 debut.

APRIL 2005

FIRST SALES
Deb Baker received a three-book deal from Berkley based on a proposal featuring doll restorer Gretchen Birch. The books are: "The French Doll Murder," "The Barbie Doll Murders," and "The Kewpie-Doll Murder." Additionally her novel, "Murder Passes the Buck," has been accepted by Llewellyn's mystery line for 2006.

Lois Winston's manuscript "Resurrecting Gertie," which was a first runner-up in the American Title competition by Dorchester Publishing, and how been purchased by Dorchester as a 2006 release.

SHORT STORY
Beth Groundwater's 500 word flash fiction piece, "Lucky Bear," is currently appearing in the online Flash Me Magazine. This story a flash fiction contest run by Storyteller Magazine and will be reissued and available online in September 2005.

CONTEST Annie Bartlett's manuscript, "Killing Secrets," finaled in the The Grove Mystery Writers' Contest.


MARCH 2005

SHORT STORY SALES
Beth Groundwater's humorous mystery short story, "Flamingo Fatality," will be published in the Manhattan Mysteries anthology, Fall 2005.

GETTING NOTICED
Stacy Juba won the 2005 William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grant for Unpublished Writers.
