Welcome to Liz Zelvin's Author Page Elizabeth Zelvin’s first mystery, Death Will Get You Sober, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in 2008. Bruce wakes up in detox on the Bowery on Christmas Day. It’s time to change his life. But how can he do it without dying of boredom? Don’t drink, go to meetings…and investigate a murder. With the help of a computer geek who loves history, AA, and the sidewalks of New York and the world’s most codependent addictions counselor, Bruce must find out who’s killing homeless alcoholics, including the one with a trust fund and plenty of enemies. Death Will Get You Sober is the first of a projected series. Her short story, “Death Will Clean Your Closet,” has been accepted for inclusion in the anthology Murder New York Style by members of Sisters in Crime New York/Tristate. Liz is a lifelong writer whose publication credits include two books of poetry, I Am the Daughter and Gifts and Secrets: Poems of the Therapeutic Relationship; a book for clinicians, Gender and Addictions: Men and Women in Treatment (co-edited); and many professional articles drawing on her experience as a psychotherapist and specialist in addictions and codependency. For many years, she directed alcoholism treatment programs and maintained a psychotherapy practice, both in New York City.
