Welcome to Carolyn Mulford's Author Page
Carolyn Mulford makes her living by writing and editing nonfiction and exercises her brain by writing mysteries. She is marketing the first book in a series featuring a retired CIA covert operative who returns to her hometown in Missouri to hide out and uncovers meth and murder.
Before opening an editorial business, Carolyn worked for a national education magazine, an international technical magazine, and a national journal on service-learning. Since then she has written on many topics for both special and general audiences. Her books include Adventure Vacations in Five Mid-Atlantic States, and she has written travel articles for numerous major newspapers. She also has written and edited newsletters for diverse audiences, edited publications for such clients as the American Red Cross and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and conducted writing workshops for federal agencies, national associations, and writers' organizations. Currently a major client is Writing That Works, a national subscription newsletter for corporate writers and editors.
Carolyn Mulford has written both fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults. Her latest book is a middle-grade/YA historical novel, The Feedsack Dress (Cave Hollow Press, July 2007). Nonfiction books include Elizabeth Dole: Public Servant and Financial Fitness for Teens. She also wrote short fiction and nonfiction for a reading textbook, edited a multilevel curriculum guide and materials on immigration, and edited a magazine for students and teachers involved in service-learning.
